The South African National Wushu Training Center is run by it's Head Instructor, Master Yang Li Hua who is a Master Level instructor ranked 7th Dan by the
Chinese Wushu Association in Mainland China. She comes from a traditional Wushu family, and started doing Wushu at the age of 6. From 1983 Master Yang Lihua joined the Beijing Wushu Team under the great Wu Bin, who is rated as one of China’s Top 10 Teachers of All-Time and one of the few 9th Dan Masters in the world. Some of Master Yang’s other coaches at the Beijing Team include Li Jun Feng and Cheng Hui Kun, who is currently the International Wushu Federation’s Technical director.The Beijing Wushu Team is also where the famous movie star Jet Li hails from.
Master Li Hua has been teaching Chinese Wushu in South Africa for over 10 years and her students have won many prizes and accolades in both local and International
Competition. She is recognized as an authority on International Standard Competitive Wushu (aka Contemporary Wushu) here in South Africa, and she was the first to
teach the syllabus here.As she is from a martial family, Master Yang also teaches traditional Wushu and Tai Chi styles. Master Yang is currently the only qualified international standard coach in South Africa, and the current SA Protea team coach as well as head of the SA Wushu Federation’s Technical Committee. In 2008, one of Master Yang’s students was selected to represent South Africa at the Beijing Olympic Wushu Competition. The South African Wushu Training Center specializes in International Standard Wushu, Traditional Wushu and Tai Chi Chuan and also offers courses in self-defence and Sanshou (Sanda). The Training Center is a SAWF (South African Wushu Federation) registered training location and is affiliated with the Chinese Wushu Association in China. The Center was one of the first institutions in South Africa to teach a Wushu curriculum as taught in Mainland China. Master Yang emphasis on teaching students as individuals, and let's them progress at one's personal pace, to become the best they can possibly be and not be held back by others in the class. As Wushu is growing in popularity internationally, the International Olympic Committee has seen it's growth and world wide spread appeal and Wushu has been submitted to become an Olympic event. Wushu already is a World Championship and All-Asian Games event. Master Yang is a qualified instructor of the new international standard (Olympic) routines, and aims at raising the standard of South African Wushu to an international standard. The Center annually organizes a cultural training tour to Mainland China where students are taken to train with the Beijing Wushu Team. The Beijing Wushu Team is recognized as the top Wushu training location in the world and has produced numerous Chinese and World Champions. It's members are recognized as top level instructors and many graduates of the Team are now teaching international teams including USA, Japan, Australia etc. The Beijing Team is known world wide due to it's most famous graduate, namely movie superstar Jet Li. The Center also sells Wushu weapons, uniforms, training equipment, liniments and instructional media. |
