SANWTC News & Events:
October 2009:
The IWUF will host the 10th World Wushu Championships in Toronto, Canada this year. Master Yang Lihua is currently preparing students for this event.

December 2008:
Master Yang Lihua, SA Team Coach, attended the 2nd World Junior Wushu Championships in Bali, Indonesia with her2 students, Yaakov Pinkus and Simone Vosloo. These were the only athletes representing South Africa at this event.

November 2008:
SANWTC Assistant Coach, Byron Jacobs, was team manager for the SA Team which attended the 3rd World Traditional Wushu Championships in Wudang, China. He also competed in the Men's Pudao division, one of the toughest divisions, with 5 professional athletes competing in a pool of 7. He grasped a bronze medal, with a score difference of only 0.07 between him and the gold medal!

October 2008:
SANWTC Assistant Coach, Byron Jacobs, attended the 2008 IWUF Taolu Judges Upgrading course in Wuhan, China where he upgraded his rank to B Grade Taolu Judge. He is ranked 9th in the world currently , including China, due to his results from the examinations, and is the highest ranked Judge on the continent currently.

September 2008:
SANWTC Assistant Coach, Byron Jacobs, was invited by the IWUF to judge at the TAFISA Wushu competition in Busan, Korea as an independant judge. This means he is judging on behalf of the IWUF and all his expenses were covered by them for this.

August 2008:
SANWTC student, Bryan Son, represented South Arican at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Wushu COmpetition in the Mens Straightsword and Mens Spear divisions.

November 2007:
The only 2 taolu athletes representing South Africa at the 9th World Wushu Championships in Beijing are students of the SANWTC under Master Yang Lihua. Byron Jacobs and Bryan Son will be representing SA at this event, and Master Yang Lihua is the National Team Coach. Byron Jacobs was invited to be an independant judge at the World Championships, but as he was competing he could not judge.

January-2007:
Master Yang Lihua has begun preparing her students for the upcoming 9th World Wushu Championships, which will be held in Beijing, China in November this year. This World Championships is especially relevant as athletes will need to qualify at this competition in order to participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Wushu Competitions.

August-2006:
Master Yang Lihua was tasked with preparing athletes who would represent South Africa at the 1st World Junior Wushu Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She coached the team which performed well at this landmark event, two of her private students, Simone Vosloo and Savannah Vosloo placed in the top ten in their respective events. This was a first for South Africa. The World Junior Wushu Championships will be held once every 2 years by the IWUF.

December-2005:
Master Yang Lihua took the South African National Wushu Taolu Team to compete at the 8th World Wushu Championships in Hanoi, Vietnam. All 5 of the taolu athletes were students of Master Lihua. These athletes were: Phakade Khanyile, Hugh Sonn, Bryan Son, Byron Jacobs, Seepapitso Moiloa.

August-2005:
The SA National Wushu Training Center will be travelling to Beijing China, to compete at the Beijing Invitational Wushu Championships as well as for training with the Beijing Wushu Team.

14-May-2005:
Congratulations to Master Lihua's students who were selected to form part of the SA National Wushu Team: Byron Jacobs ; Phakade Khanyile ; Marius Freislich ; Hugh Sonn ; Sepapitso Moiloa ; Deshika Kathawaroo, Ilia Zolas.

Welcome to the new web page!! The SANWTC opens it's invitation to anyone who is interested in the art of Wushu. The SANWTC also offers courses to martial artists who would like to learn the 2nd Compulsory wushu routines, as our goal is to promote wushu uin South Africa and make it available to everyone.
